Researchers from the Israeli University the Technion for the first time in history managed to grow artificial gold in the laboratory. According to the publication in the edition of the Jerusalem Post, this discovery is the work of graduate students of the faculty of materials engineering Maria Koifman-Kristof, who worked under the supervision of Professor Boaz Fit. The details of the process of producing artificial gold the scientists published in the journal Nature Communications.

The Technion is one of the leading universities in Israel, specializing in the technical Sciences. It was opened in 1924, and during his work the wall places left thousands of professional engineers and scientists. «When creating artificial gold we were motivated by purely scientific interest, says Mariya koyfman-Kristof, but, as it turned out, the resulting material has many potential advantages over natural gold».

Artificial material was obtained in the form of a porous monocrystal, which has many advantages over the polycrystals owing to the continuous crystal lattice. Such gold has a high mechanical strength, resistance to high temperatures and increased conductivity of electricity and heat.
